Start with one cell.
A cell holds one note, and a Log groups cells on the same subject. If you're not sure where to write something, start in the Scratch Log. You can move it into a topic's Log later.
Why does nobody use search?
The search box is buried inside the third tab, so people seem to give up before they even look.
Getting started

Write in the Scratch Log first
It's fine if you haven't decided where it goes. Open Scratch from the sidebar and write the thought down before it's gone. Make a new cell with the + button at the bottom right of the screen; on a computer you can also press Shift + Enter while writing to start the next cell.

Add a title and tags with Auto-tagging
Press Auto-tagging on a cell you've written and it gets a title and tags that fit, so it's easy to find later. Reach for cell links, related-cell gathering, and AI improvement in the cell's “More” menu when you need them.

Move it to the right Log
Once the subject is clear, create a Log with “Add new Log” in the sidebar, then drag the icon at the cell's top left onto that Log. If cells have piled up in Scratch, press the wand at the bottom right (“Organize this log”) and choose “Sort these into the right logs.” Your Clone suggests where each one should go, and nothing moves until you confirm.
When to use it
Comparing thoughts you've collected
Press Pin on the cell you want as your reference and it stays at the side. Go through the other cells one by one, set them next to it, and your thinking sorts itself out.

Archive the cells you want to keep from the cell's “More” menu. Filter them by tag at the top of the archive, and restore them to the Log whenever you need them.

Features and options
- Pin
- Keep the current cell fixed on screen while you look through the other cells and sort out your thinking.
- Cell highlight
- Mark the cells that should stand out inside a Log.
- Gather related cells
- Finds cells related to the current one and shows them as cards right below it. The order of your cells doesn't change. From a card, you can link the two cells or jump to where that cell lives.
- Tag
- Add tags yourself, or use Auto-tagging to let AI label the cell. Shared tags make cells easier for you and your Vots to find.
- Cell link
- Drag the icon at the top left of a cell onto another cell to link the two. Then choose whether they are simply related or cause and effect.
- Cell reference
- Double-click the icon at the top left of the cell you want to use to copy its link, then paste it into the body of another cell in the same Log. Pasting it links the two cells, and you can choose whether they are related or cause and effect. Ask a Vot from that cell and it will read the referenced cell too. Links to cells in other Logs stay as URLs rather than becoming references.
- Text highlighter
- Select text inside a cell, then click the highlighter button that appears to highlight just that selection.
- Improve cell content with AI
- From the cell's “More” menu, ask AI to revise the whole cell or selected text, compare the original with the changes, then apply them.
- Voice
- When speaking is faster than typing, start recording from the cell's “More” menu and what you say is written down right away.
- Archive
- Moves finished cells into the archive from the cell's “More” menu. Find them with the tag filters at the top and restore them to the Log whenever you need them.
- Delete cell
- Move the cell to Trash, where it can be restored for seven days.
Markdown & shortcuts
Formatting appears as you type.
Type a marker such as #, -, or [] at the start of a line and press Space to create a heading, list, or checkbox. To make text bold or italic, wrap it in markers. This way of formatting with markers is called Markdown.

Think further with a Vot.
A Vot is a character agent with its own personality and point of view. Call one while you jot down your thoughts and it reads what you've written and thinks it through with you right there. The answer stays in the cell and leads into your next thought.

Getting started
While writing a request to a Vot, press Tab and your Clone writes the request for you. If you haven't typed anything yet it drafts one; if you're mid-sentence it finishes it.

Start a new line in a cell and type /. Write your request in the box that opens and press Enter. Your Clone reads what you've written and answers.

Ask another Vot with @
Type @, choose a Vot, write your request, and press Enter. Create a Vot from the sidebar, or subscribe to one in the Hub, where other people publish their Vots.

Continue with the same Vot
The Vot's answer stays in the cell, including its charts and mind maps. Ask a follow-up below the answer, or ask the same Vot to organize it in a different format.
When to use it
Type / at the start of a new line to open a request to your Clone. To ask another Vot, type @ and choose one. Write your request and press Enter to send it. The Vot you choose takes the place of “Critical Thinker” in the examples.

Features and options
- Persona
- Defines who the Vot is and the perspective it speaks from.
- Instructions
- Sets the rules the Vot should follow every time it answers.
- Answer model
- The AI model the Vot uses to write its answers. If you're not sure, leave it as it is.
- Memory
- What the Vot should remember in later conversations. Say “remember this” while talking and the Vot writes it down; you can also add or remove entries here yourself. If the Instructions say when to remember something, the Vot updates or removes entries on its own each time that happens.
- Tools
- Turns the tools the Vot can use on or off. Each one is introduced under Tools below.
- Linked Log
- Connects a Log the Vot can search and read. When asked, it can also add or update cells there.
Good to know
- *Vot answers use credits, the service units used for AI features. Check your credit usage under Settings → Usage.
- *Auto-tagging and AI improvement are free up to a set number of uses. Organizing a Log uses credits.
Grow the Clone that knows you best.
Your Clone is your personal Vot. It learns about you from your notes and conversations. The better it knows you, the more it can work through ideas from your perspective and organize related thoughts.

Getting started
- 01
Just keep writing
Writing cells, asking Vots from a cell, choosing branches in a Sim, and writing a diary or books in the Hideout all give your Clone material to learn from. You can leave out Logs you don't want it to see under Settings → Clone.
- 02
Teach your Clone about you
Open your Clone from the Vot list in the sidebar and pick a way under “Learning about me.” “Let your clone read your notes” has your Clone read what you've written and work out how you think. “Tell your clone about yourself” has your Clone ask while you answer.
- 03
Teach it from a conversation
After you've talked for a while in Chitchat, press “Learn from this chat” above the conversation and your Clone learns how you think from it.
Thoughts sort themselves out as you talk.
Chitchat is where you talk with your Clone about anything. Bring an idea or something on your mind, and your thinking sorts itself out as you talk. Your Clone can read the cells in your Logs, and can write what you conclude into cells too. Open it with “Chitchat” in the sidebar.

In a new conversation, press “Small talk” and your Clone speaks first. Even short replies keep the conversation going.
Small talkWhen you want to hear a topic from several angles
Drag Vots from the list on the left into a new chat or a Think it through chat and it switches to Story mode, where they talk it over, each in character. You set the direction, like “argue the opposite side this time,” or choose “Speak myself” above the input box to talk to the Vots directly. Small talk is just you and your Clone.
Story modeWhen you want to tell your Clone about yourself
Start it with “Tell your clone about yourself” on your Clone Vot's page. Your Clone asks the questions it prepared, one at a time. Answer freely, then press “Learn from this chat” and it gets to know you better.
Interview
Drop by the room where your Clone lives.
The Hideout is your Clone's room. Stop by, say something, and keep it fed with marshmallows — it brings back news that fits your interests and remembers what it learns about you. Open it with “Hideout” in the sidebar.
What you can do in the Hideout
Talk
Chat about your day. Your fifth message of the day roasts 10 marshmallows, and every five messages after that roast 5 more. Talking with your Clone in Chitchat roasts them the same way.
Tap the furniture or the pond yourself
To give your Clone something to do, tap a piece of furniture such as the desk, or the pond. The things it can do there appear; pick one and your Clone goes and does it. The more it does, the hungrier it gets, so keep it in marshmallows. Tap an empty spot on the floor, or press the arrow keys, and your Clone walks there.
Diary
Tap the desk to open the diary and write about your day. When you save, it gets a title you can tap to change. Ask for “Read the diary” at the desk and your Clone reads what you wrote, and it shows up in what your Clone says to itself.
Fishing
Tap the pond and choose “Go fishing,” and your Clone brings back news that fits what you're into lately. Tap the bucket to see what it caught and open the originals.
Bookshelf
Tap the bookshelf, make a “New book,” and write down in it what your reading made you think. The book goes on the shelf, and your Clone takes it down and reads it.
Trash bin
Tap the trash bin, write down whatever you want to get off your chest, and throw it away. Your Clone reads it and says a word back, and the note isn't kept in the Hideout.
Laptop
Create routines for your Clone from the laptop and read the result cards. Include ‘show it as a chart’ or ‘organize it into a mind map’ in the instruction to see that format in the card.
Campfire
Marshmallows roasted while you talk are set by the campfire. Light it and you can even hear the wood crackle.

Soon your Clone will step outside its room and experience all sorts of virtual worlds. How far it will go, even we don't know yet.
Good to know
- *Marshmallows roast by the campfire when you talk with your Clone in Chitchat or the Hideout. Writing a diary entry, writing in a book, or throwing something in the trash bin each roasts one more, once a day.
- *Under “Status,” see the notes your Clone kept from the last 7 days of your writing, and ask it to forget any of them. “What my clone knows about me,” which keeps longer-lasting things like hobbies and habits, lets you fix or remove anything it got wrong.
- *Fishing works once your Clone knows what you're into. Run “Learning about me” on your Clone Vot's page, or tell it what you like in the Hideout.
- *Move or turn furniture in “Decorate,” and buy furniture, wallpaper, floors, and windows with marshmallows in the Shop to change the room.
- *If your Clone doesn't have a name yet, it asks you for one in the Hideout. Say a name in the Hideout or in a Think it through chat and it takes that name.
Ask your Vot to read material and turn it into charts.
Summarize long articles and videos, turn numbers into charts, or organize ideas into mind maps. Tell your Vot what you want and it chooses the tools it needs. It can also create images and work with Notion or your computer.

Open tools on the Vot's page
Turn optional tools such as web search and image generation on or off in the Tools card. Basic tools such as visualizations and reading Logs need no setup.
- 02
Set up the tools you need
Turn on web search for up-to-date information, or Notion to read your Notion documents. Connect tools that need an external service under Settings → Integrations first.
- 03
Give it material and the result you want
Say something like ‘Compare this material in a table,’ including what to read and how to present it. You don't need to learn tool names or special commands.
Features and options
- Web reading & collection
- Reads the links you give it: web articles, YouTube videos, and PDFs. It can also read recent blog posts or a YouTube channel's latest videos. More on this below.
- Web search
- Finds up-to-date information on Google even when you don't give a link. It works when the Vot answers from a cell in a Log with a Gemini model, and each search uses credits, so it starts turned off. If it's off and a question needs current information, a notice appears under the answer, and “Search and answer again” lets the Vot look it up just that once and answer again.
- Knowledge network search
- Finds related content in knowledge other users have published and cites it with sources. It starts turned off; once on, choose which kinds to look for (facts, viewpoints, stories) under “Knowledge types to search.” It works when you call the Vot from a cell in a Log, and in Chitchat. The Knowledge Network is introduced under Knowledge below.
- Image generation
- Draws new images from a description and keeps editing an image already in the cell. It can also use a Vot's avatar to put that character in the picture. In Logs and Sims the Vot leaves the prompt first, and nothing is drawn until you press Generate.
- Notion
- Finds pages in your connected Notion and reads them. Connect Notion first under Settings → Integrations.
- My Claude or Codex
- Hands work to the Claude or Codex connected on your computer. It can handle sites that need a login, and results arrive as a new cell a little later. Available on the Pro plan.
- Visualization
- Organizes material into tables, charts, mind maps, and relationship graphs. No setup is needed: ask your Vot for the format you want. Results stay in the answer. See the request examples below.
Tools that are always on
Your Vot uses these when needed, without extra setup. It only reads Logs and files it is allowed to see.
Search and read Logs
Finds and reads related cells in the current Log and its linked Log. When asked, it can also write cells in the linked Log.
Read attachments
Finds the relevant part of PDFs and documents uploaded to the Log.
Look at cell images
Looks at images in cells when answering.
Remember
Keeps important things it learns in conversation and uses them in later answers.
Suggest tidying
Suggests merging or moving cells, creating a Log, and similar tidying. Nothing changes until you confirm.
- *To exclude cells from the context added automatically, tag them and add the tag under “Tags to exclude from reference” on the Vot's Tools card. Cells you explicitly reference or link to the request are still included.
Web reading in detail
Paste a link and your Vot reads it.
Paste a web article, YouTube video, or PDF link into a cell and ask your Vot. It finds the part you asked about in the source and adds numbered citations. Give it a blog address to read recent posts, or a YouTube channel address to read its latest videos.
- *Ask a specific question to get a more focused answer from the source.

- *“Web reading & collection” must be on in the tools on the Vot's page.
- *Pages that need a login can't be read. For those, ask with the “My Claude or Codex” tool.
- *When captions aren't available, the video's audio is transcribed. Videos with no captions that run longer than 2 hours are answered from the description only.
- *Some sites block automated access and may not be readable. PDFs made of scanned images can't be read either.
Visualizations in detail
Turn ideas into mind maps and numbers into charts.
Call a Vot from a cell, or talk in Chitchat or the Hideout, and ask it to ‘show this as a chart.’ See the result right in the answer, with no extra setup. Tables and charts from the Hideout are under “Earlier.”

Try asking about records you have collected, as in these examples. Use your own Log names and choose the period and comparison criteria you want to explore.

- *Results stay in the Vot's answer or the routine's result cell. Open the same answer later to see its charts and mind maps again.
- *The chart's data and labels are saved too. Double-click the result cell's top-left icon to copy its link, then paste it into the body of another cell in the same Log. From that cell, ask something like ‘Compare this result with this month's records.’
- *You can also put ‘organize it in a table’ or ‘show it as a chart’ in a routine's Instruction. To include its previous run's result, turn on ‘Use previous execution result’ for that routine. It is off by default.
Leave recurring work to a routine.
Set a task and a schedule, and your Vot runs it each time, leaving the result as a new cell in the Log you choose. Results can include tables, charts, and mind maps as well as text. Turn on notifications to receive results in your connected messenger too.

Use this when you have a Log where news is collected. Write ‘when it's about interest rates’ as the trigger condition and pick that Log. At each scheduled run, it checks new cells and summarizes only content that matches. Enable notifications to receive the result in your messenger too.

Some Vots in the Hub send the results of their creator's routines to subscribers too. After subscribing, choose a “Routine result log” on that Vot's Hub page and the same results pile up in your Log.

Getting started
- 01
Press “Add routine” on the Vot's page
Open the Vot you want to hand work to from the sidebar and press “Add routine” in its Routines card. Routines are available from the Basic plan. For your Clone, you can also add one from the laptop in the Hideout.

Write the task and the time
Write the “Instruction” the way you'd normally ask a Vot. Pick the Log for results, the days, and the time — that's it.
- 03
Check the result
At the set time, a new cell appears in the Log you chose. To see it right away, press ‘Run once now.’ To receive a notification too, connect a supported messenger and enable notifications in both the routine and its integration settings.
Features and options
- Target Log
- Where the cells a routine makes pile up. Give each routine its own Log and results won't mix with your other notes.
- Run several times a day
- When on, the routine repeats at the interval you set for a day, starting from the first run. Use it for things that change often.
- Use previous execution result
- Off by default, so the previous run's result is not included automatically. Turn it on to read just the immediately preceding result from this same routine. If that run failed or has no result, it uses only the current instruction. Use it to add new figures to the last result or compare what changed.
- Trigger condition
- At each scheduled run, the routine checks cells added to the selected Log since its previous check. It runs the task only if new content matches the condition. Add keywords to check only cells containing those words and use fewer credits.
- Send messenger notification
- Sends the result to Telegram, Discord, or Slack when the routine finishes. Connect the service and enable notifications in both its integration settings and the routine. Routine notifications are not available in KakaoTalk. Turn on “Routine result notifications” under Browser notifications in Settings → General to get them as system notifications too.
- Use my Claude or Codex
- When on, the Claude or Codex on your computer runs the instruction instead of the Vot, and the Vot tidies up the result and leaves it in the Log. Turn it on for sites that need a login or work with files in your default working folder.
- *If the routine also has a trigger condition, the Vot checks it first. In this case, your computer can handle browser research, but not folder tasks.
- Routine on
- Turn it off to pause the routine for a while. You don't need to delete it; turn it back on and it runs again from the set time.
Good to know
- *How many routines you can create depends on your plan.
- *Each run uses credits, just like talking to the Vot.
- *“Use my Claude or Codex” is available on the Pro plan, and routines with it turned on need your computer and the agent running at the scheduled time.
Use the Claude or Codex subscription you already have in evot.io.
If you already subscribe to Claude or Codex, connect it to evot.io and use it as it is. Mention @claude or @codex in a cell and it works on your computer, on your subscription, and the result comes back as a cell. It researches the web freely with your signed-in browser, and reads the documents on your computer and sums them up. Connect it to a Vot as a tool and the Vot can do that much more.

Mention @claude or @codex
First open “My Claude or Codex” under Settings → Integrations and connect your computer. Then mention @claude or @codex in a cell and write the task, and it starts on your computer.

Check the working folder and how tasks run
Choose a working folder. Claude may ask you to confirm an action or decision in the cell. Codex runs without asking for confirmation, within the folders and permissions allowed on this computer, and reports any work it could not complete.

Review and continue
Progress and results stay in the cell so you can continue with a follow-up task.

- *Your Claude or Codex sign-in stays on your computer and is never sent to evot.io.

Write the starting point
Press “Add new Sim” under Sim in the sidebar and describe the situation you want to play out in a sentence or two. You can also choose “Unfold in a Sim” from a cell's “More” menu to start from that cell's text; the last branch you viewed comes back to that cell as a card.

Set the direction
Write which way the next step should go, or just write a goal and let the direction be chosen automatically.

Choose a branch and continue
Pick a branch and continue to the next step. Choose ‘Show odds’ to see the estimated likelihood of each branch. If a branch's text isn't right, fix it in place with “Rewrite” on its card.

- Participating vots
- Choose the Vots that write the branches. At each step, the Vot whose turn it is decides what to do in its own character, and those choices become the branches. Only your own Vots can join; subscribed Vots can't.
- Reference Logs
- Choose Logs to reference as the branches are written.
- Hub knowledge
- Pick verified knowledge from the Hub as background for every step. Stories are used as the setting, facts and viewpoints as the basis of the scenario, and the content is fixed as it was when you picked it.
- Branches per step
- Sets how many branches each step creates.
- Direction
- Tells the next step how the branches should develop. Automatic direction is unavailable when the Sim runs through Claude on your computer.
- Goal
- Write the outcome you want: each step heads toward it, and a branch that reaches it gets marked.
- Sim model
- Choose a cloud model or Claude on your connected computer. Sims can't run on Codex on your computer. Your computer and the agent must stay running for local Sims, and running Sims on Claude on your computer requires the Pro plan.

Send a message from the messenger you already use and it becomes a cell. Install the extension in Chrome and save the page you're viewing with one button. You can also bring in documents from Notion, or let an AI program such as Claude Code read and write your evot.io cells.

When to use it
When you want to jot or ask right from your messenger
A message sent from a connected messenger becomes a cell as it is, and you can talk with a Vot there too. Leave thoughts and questions the moment they come up.

On Telegram, just send a voice message; on Slack, record an audio clip. On Discord, hold to record, then long-press that message and choose Apps → Transcribe to evot. What you said is turned into text and saved as a cell. Capture an investment idea on the move or what you remember right after a meeting by saying it on the spot. Each message can run up to 10 minutes.

Connect what you need
Connect what you need from Messenger, Extension (the Chrome extension), Notion, MCP, and My Claude or Codex. The Chrome extension is installed from the Chrome Web Store with the button in the Extension tab.

Choose where results belong
For integrations that bring in cells, choose the Log they go into. To receive routine results in a supported messenger, enable notifications in both its integration settings and the routine.

- A way of connecting that lets AI programs such as Claude Code or Codex read and write your evot.io cells directly. If you don't use programs like these, you can skip it.
- My Claude or Codex
- Connects the Claude Code or Codex on your computer to evot.io. Once connected, it works with your signed-in browser and the files on your computer.

The Hub is where users publish the Vots, Sims, and knowledge they've made. Find a Vot that knows the field you need and subscribe, and you can call it with @ from your Logs. The subscription fee is paid monthly in credits. You can publish your own Vots to the Hub too.

Subscribe to the Vot you need
Open the Hub from the sidebar and find a Vot with the perspective or expertise your work needs.

Subscribed Vots appear in your Vot list. Mention one with @ from any Log to think together.

Publish your Vot
Open Publish to Hub on the Vot's page, then set its introduction, tags, and monthly price. When someone subscribes, you receive a share of the fee as credits. Publishing a Vot is available from the Basic plan.

- Monthly price (credits)
- Sets the monthly subscription price in credits (at least 5). Part of each subscription is credited to the creator.
- *Earned credits are service units for evot.io AI features, compute, and other Vot subscriptions. They cannot be refunded or withdrawn as cash.
- Link info subscribers collect through the vot to its knowledge
- Controls whether information subscribers collect through the Vot is added to its knowledge. When off, subscribers cannot use collection tools.
- Linked Log
- If the Vot has a linked Log, it reads that Log's cells when talking with subscribers too, so their contents may be shown to them. Tag cells you don't want shown and exclude that tag in the Vot's tools. Archived cells aren't read.
- Live subscription
- Subscribers chat with the original Vot maintained by its creator, not a copy. They cannot run tasks on the creator's computer.
Publish a finished Sim and let others continue it.
Set the public scope, add a title, summary, and tags, then publish the Sim to the Hub and a public page. If continuations are allowed, readers can take any point into their own Sim and keep exploring.

The whole tree is public by default. Exclude a branch on the canvas to leave it and everything below it out.

Check the introduction and scope
Write a title, summary, and tags — AI can draft the summary and tags for you. Then use the preview to confirm which branches and endings will be public.

Publish and share the link
Published Sims appear in the Hub. Copy the public-page link to share them with people who do not use evot.io.

- The finished tree is public by default. Branches excluded on the canvas and branches still running are left out.
- Publish reference logs too
- This is off by default. Turning it on publishes the selected Logs’ cell contents as-is, including archived cells.
- Continuations
- When allowed, readers can pay 5 credits to take any point into their own Sim and continue it. The creator earns 1 credit each time someone does.

The Knowledge Network is where the knowledge Vots gather piles up. What Vots read on the web and the cells you submit go through review, and only what is verified stays as knowledge. That knowledge then becomes the ground Vots stand on: they use it, with sources, when they answer.

Turn on “Knowledge network search” for a Vot
Turn it on in the Vot's tools. From then on the Vot looks up verified knowledge when it answers and uses it with sources. You can also choose which kinds to look for (facts, viewpoints, stories) under “Knowledge types to search.”

Look around the Knowledge tab in the Hub
Open the Hub from the sidebar and choose the Knowledge tab. Open a piece of knowledge to see a graph of what it connects to, including claims that disagree with each other. Anyone can read and search. Paste a link from a piece of knowledge's “Copy link” into a cell and it goes in as a citation.

Take part in verification
Open a piece of knowledge and rate it “Accurate,” “Inaccurate,” or “Outdated,” or suggest a source. Negative ratings send it back for review, and only what is verified again stays.
